Drucker, Malka, Rabbi.  Winner of several New Mexico Book Awards for 2009:  Finalist, Religious Book, for Women and Judaism. Praeger, 2009; and Winner, Juvenile Book, and Finalist, Religious Book, for Portraits of Jewish American Heroes.  Dutton's Children's Books, 2008.  Also, Booklist Online named her Portraits of Jewish American Heroes as one of the Top Ten Religion Books for Youth 2008.

Lisa Silverman was in Copenhagen to speak at the International Board of Books for Young People (IBBY) conference, earlier 2009.  She presented a talk on "Illustrated Books About the Holocaust for Children" on September 3, 2008.  Lisa is Director of the Sinai Temple Blumenthal Library, Los Angeles.

"Adaire J. Klein: Keeper of Memories, Nurturer of Souls" in the Dec. 28, 2007 - Jan. 3, 2008, Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles cover story titled, "Mensches: Our Third Annual Salute to Big-Hearted Angelenos."   Adaire is Director of the Library and Archival Services at the Simon Wiesenthal Center-Museum of Tolerance.




v AJLSC Members who won AJL awards v

Ellen G. Cole, Librarian at the Eugene Levine Memorial Library, Temple Isaiah, Los Angeles, CA won the Fanny Goldstein Merit Award for 2007, at the AJL Convention in Phoenix, AZ, in June 2007.  The Fanny Goldstein Merit Award, named for the librarian, social activist, and founder of National Jewish Book Month, is bestowed in recognition of loyal and ongoing contributions to the Association and to the profession of Jewish librarianship.  See Ellen's heartfelt Acceptance Speech.

Other AJLSC members to win the Fanny Goldstein Merit Award are:  Susan Dubin (2001), Adaire J. Klein (1994), and Barbara Y. Leff (1992).
